Bulk desiccants keep your products safe from moisture damage, such as deterioration, rust, corrosion, mould, and mildew. Stream Peak provides a wide range of desiccants, for various industries, such as: for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, healthcare, dietary supplements, food packaging uses, and many others.
To help you understand the best desiccant material that suits your product best, the following is the features and uses of the different types of desiccant that we provide:
Silica gel is a porous form of Silicon Dioxide, comes in the form of hard and translucent granules. Silica gels are odourless, non-toxic, and chemically inert, producing no by-product upon absorption of water molecules—silica gel used in controlling the relative humidity level in the surrounding environment.
There are two types of silica gel: indicating and non-indicating. Both have similar functions, the difference for the indicating gels it will show a change in colour when it is reaching its full adsorption capacity.
Best used for purification treatment for water, air and gases, as well as odour removal. However, activated carbon itself is not able to absorb moisture, so it is best to combine it with other desiccants.
Made of synthetically-produced Aluminium Oxide, it comes in the form of smooth spherical shape. Activated alumina has a high absorbent capacity and surface area, perfect for liquid and gas.
Naturally-occurring absorbent material, activated clay can absorb moisture in a range of temperature and control humidity level.
Molecular sieves come from a complex crystalline structure; molecular sieve provides a network of pores, giving it excellent absorbing properties. They are very effective at removing water molecule from liquid and gases, able to absorb better comparing to silica gel at a lower humidity.
Here in Stream Peak, we also provide moisture packaging solutions such as Moisture Barrier Bags, that is used together with desiccants bags to enhance the moisture protection of your goods. The bag functions as a protective barrier to deter moisture in the surrounding environment from entering the bag and spoiling the inner goods. Humidity Indicator Card can also be used to measure the relative humidity to determine if dehydration measures worked. Find out more about our Humidity Indicator Card here!
